Rummel Hosts Five Core Meal for Students

Students from three Lasallian high schools in Louisiana came together to gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be Lasallian through Archbishop Rummel High School’s first Five Core Dinner for students. Students from the Metairie school welcomed students from De La Salle High School in New Orleans and Saint Paul’s School in Covington for the event.

Rummel President Brother Gale Condit, FSC and faculty member Brother Michael Livaudais, FSC ’66 coordinated the event for more than 50 guests. It included personal reflections by faculty members and students on each of the five core principles which were paired with individual courses of the meal. An alumnus who owns a restaurant provided the meal and faculty members served it.

This is the second Five Core Dinner Rummel has hosted. The first took place in December for parents and alumni of Louisiana’s Lasallian schools. Bro. Gale brought the idea to the school from his time at St. Paul’s which held its first Five Core Meal in 2010. The event stems from an initiative the New Orleans-Santa Fe District created for its ministries as “a culinary reflection on the Five Lasallian Core Principles” in which each course of the meal is accompanied by presentations, discussion, and prayer.
