The final week of the 45th General Chapter is coming to an end, and the Institute will provide a live video stream of the address of the Superior General, Brother Robert Schieler, FSC, from 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. (Rome) on Saturday, June 7, 2014. The delegates spent a majority of the last week finishing their revision of the Rule. The basic text for their work is the draft of September 2012, which was proposed by an ad-hoc commission. The delegates divided into eight thematic groups for the work – one for each part of the revised Rule. With delegates representing various Regions in each group, three languages were spoken, but the basic reference text for translation purposes was French. The voting on the revisions is now finished and, once finalized, the text will be forwarded to the Holy See for its approval.
During the past few days, the delegates took time to acknowledge particular groups who have put in effort to aid the success of the Chapter and the work of the Brothers, including the translators, technical support, communications team, community members, and lay employees at the Generalate.
