Brother Adrian Powers, RIP

Brother Adrian Powers, FSC, of the Midwest District, passed away on September 29. Please pray for his eternal rest.

A De La Salle Christian Brother for 69 years, Brother Adrian was born Bartholomew Powers in Ossian, Iowa, the son of Edward and Bertha (Hangartner) Powers. He graduated from Ossian High School in 1934 and entered the novitiate of the Christian Brothers in 1939 in Glencoe, Missouri. He earned a B.S.S. degree from Saint Mary’s College (now University) in Winona, Minnesota, in 1943, and a M.Ed. from De Paul University in 1950. He professed his first vows in 1940 and his perpetual vows in 1945. He taught at St. George H.S. in Evanston, Illinois, and later was Assistant Principal and Principal at St. Patrick High School in Chicago from 1956 to 1965. Then he moved to Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was superintendent until 1987 when he retired.
