After nearly 12 years of dedicated service, Brother Gerry Frendreis, FSC, chief financial officer at Christian Brothers Conference (CBC), will complete his service effective August 30, 2016.

Brother Gerry joined CBC in January 2005, and has fulfilled a number of needs during more than a decade of service. While Brother Gerry’s main role has always been in finance and human resources, his duties over the years have included overseeing operations such as supervising staff, managing information technology, handling legal matters, managing needs of Sangre de Cristo, and maintaining relationships with Christian Brothers Services, government offices and vendors. Brother Gerry has also worked on collecting and dispersing funds for Lasallian Volunteers, the Lwanga District in Africa, and fundraisers for causes of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools.

In addition to his duties related to the business office, Brother Gerry has been a strength in building community within CBC, from leading weekly prayer to supporting colleagues.

“For twelve too short years, I have been blessed to pray and work and laugh and cry with the wonderful Lasallians with whom I have shared ministry and fraternity at Christian Brothers Conference,” he said. “My heart is permanently etched with their smiles and Tuesday petitions.”

“As Brothers we profess a vow of ‘stability.’ We profess fidelity to our vocation as ‘both a precious gift of God’s love received day after day, and a daily human response to his fidelity,’” said General Councilor Brother Timothy Coldwell, FSC. “Brother Gerry’s fidelity has been witnessed every day here in Christian Brothers Conference for 12 years. His fidelity has been a lodestar for the people, programs and ideals of our Region. We are deeply grateful for his leadership and guidance over the years in creating a solid foundation for our mission.”

“Brother Gerry is a gentle man who demonstrates, on a daily basis, a love of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, a true faith in God, and an open heart to all, especially those whom he has taught, those who have served as Lasallian Volunteers, and those who are ill or suffering,” said Mark Freund, executive director for Lasallian Education. “In him we see, to paraphrase the words of Saint John Baptist de La Salle (Letter 32), a man who each day renews his offering to God. He is a true brother to all of us at Christian Brothers Conference and we wish him nothing but all good blessings and success in whatever challenge he tackles next.”

In addition to his work at CBC, Brother Gerry has served as treasurer and secretary for Christian Brothers Major Superiors, recording secretary for the Regional Conference of Christian Brothers, and a member of the Regional Finance Committee. He has also served on a number of committees for the District of Eastern North America, including the finance committee and investment committee. Additionally, he chairs the Brothers of the Christian Schools of New Jersey. He has also served on the finance committee of the Conference of Major Superiors of Men.

Prior to joining CBC, Brother Gerry served at La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, as chief financial officers after serving as the inaugural director of what is now known as Catholic Responsible Investing at Christian Brothers Investment Services. Brother Gerry also spent a number of years teaching in high schools and universities in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

As Brother Gerry prepares to complete his service at CBC this year, he will also celebrate his 50th jubilee.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
