Brother Leo (Jeremiah Bernardine) Keindel, FSC, of the Midwest District, died at 96 on February 21 in St. Paul, MN. A De La Salle Christian Brother for 76 years, he attended Cretin High School before graduating from La Salle Institute in Glencoe, MO. He professed his first vows in Glencoe in 1933 and his final vows in 1938. He received a B.S.S. degree from Saint Mary’s College (now University) in Winona in 1936. His teaching career took him to Chicago and Evanston, IL, St. Joseph, MO, and Memphis, TN. He also taught in the Twin Cities area at Benilde, Hill, Brady, Cretin and Hill high schools. In 1980 he retired at Cretin-Derham H.S. where he remained until his death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Cretin-Derham school chapel on February 28th. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights. Memorials preferred to the Brothers of the Christian Schools Retirement Fund, 7650 S. County Line Road, Burr Ridge, IL 60527.
