SUMMARY:Lasallian Spirituality in Sport – Regional Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Lasallian Spirituality in Sport\nDate: Tuesday\, Oct. 21\, 2025\, at 6:00 p.m. ET / 3:00 p.m. PT \nSpeaker: Mary Volmer\, Mission Fellow for Athletics\, Saint Mary’s College of California\, Moraga\, CA \n“A living Lasallian spirituality never stops interpreting and describing itself\, specifying and adapting the expression of its core elements for each new generation\, enriched by their insights\, experiences and conversations. This is how Lasallian spirituality thrives.” –Lasallian Spirituality Today \nFor Lasallian student-athletes and coaches\, the experience of training and competition is often as formative and spiritually impactful as their experiences in the classroom or in the chapel. \nIn this webinar\, we will consider the unique spiritual gifts the Lasallian tradition offers student-athletes\, coaches and the scholastic communities they serve. We will begin conceptually by examining the ways in which a Pedagogy of Fraternity animates a Lasallian spirituality of sport. We will then unpack the role of coach as teacher\, discuss the challenges and pleasures of attending the spiritual health of an increasingly diverse student body\, and consider the utility of sport in a holistic Catholic education. Finally\, we will offer concrete strategies to integrate Lasallian spirituality and Lasallian core principles into athletic programs. \n\nRegister\n\n\n\nSee more of our upcoming and archived Regional webinars.

SUMMARY:Commemoration of the Transfer of the Relics of Saint John Baptist de La Salle
DESCRIPTION:John Baptist de La Salle was buried in the chapel of St. Suzanne on Holy Saturday\, April 8\, 1719. On July 6\, 1734\, his body was transferred to a chapel at Saint Yon. The tomb was vandalized during the French Revolution but the relics were not. In 1841\, the superiors received approval to have the relics moved to the Generalate. \n\n\n\nAfter the Brothers were expelled from France in 1904\, the relics were taken from Rouen to Lembecq-lez-Hal in Belgium. In 1937 they were transported to Rome where they arrived on January 26\, the anniversary of the promulgation in 1725 of the Bull of Approbation of the Institute. The relics are now in the church of Saint John Baptist de La Salle at the Generalate in Rome. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn more >

SUMMARY:Saint Mutien-Marie Wiaux\, FSC
DESCRIPTION:Louis Wiaux was born in a small village in French-speaking Belgium where almost everyone was a devout practicing Catholic. His father was a blacksmith\, while his mother helped to run a small cafe in part of the family home\, where no rough language was allowed and where the evening of Belgian beer and card playing always concluded with the recitation of the rosary. \nLouis proved neither physically nor emotionally suited to his father’s trade; he was convinced that the Lord was calling him to a different kind of forge. No sooner had he met the Brothers in a nearby school than he determined to enter the novitiate at Namur. After two years\, teaching elementary classes\, Brother Mutien was assigned to the boarding school at Malonne where he would spend the next 58 years. \nAmong the Brothers\, it was said that he had never been seen violating even the smallest points in their Rule. After his death at Malonne\, his fame began to spread through Belgium\, where many miracles were attributed to him. His relics may be venerated in Malonne at the shrine built in his honor after his canonization. \nRead more

When he was not quite 20 years old\, he published the first of his many books\, a Spanish grammar that soon became a standard text. In time his research and publications in the field of literature and linguistics put him in touch with scholars all over the world and he was granted membership in the National Academies of Ecuador and Spain. \nMore from the Institute

SUMMARY:The Importance of "Grace" in Vocational Healing  — Regional Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The Importance of “Grace” in Vocational Healing   \nWednesday\, Feb. 18 at 6:00 p.m. ET / 3:00 p.m. PT \nDr. Nelson Tung\, chief of clinical operations\, Martin De Porres Schools\, Elmont\, NY \nThis will be a Lasallian-inspired/trauma-informed webinar\, designed to help all educators reconnect with their sense of vocation and explore sustainable self-care practices. We are all aware that education is more than a job — it is a calling\, a ministry rooted in faith\, zeal and the transformative power of human relationships. Due to the vast demands on educators\, time\, passion and dedication are all areas that can be compromised due to an array of professional and personal reasons. This webinar offers “opportunity” — opportunity to be in community with all Lasallians\, to reflect\, to learn\, to share and to join one another to facilitate “grace.” The power of grace\, especially for ourselves\, is extremely healing. However\, it can be very difficult to do sometimes. Therefore\, we will explore the spiritual/clinical impact that burnout\, compassion fatigue\, secondary trauma stress and vicarious trauma can have. In turn\, we will provide for spiritually directed/evidence-based practices to be able to combat it. The ultimate goal is to organically allow for grace\, so that the whole person is cared for\, and that a renewed direction/sustainability toward vocation\, as well as spirituality\, is reestablished. \nRegister here \n\nSee more of our upcoming and archived Regional webinars.

SUMMARY:“Gen Z Isn’t Lazy: They’re Overwhelmed” — Regional Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:Gen Z Isn’t Lazy: They’re Overwhelmed\nDate: Monday\, March 23 at 6:00 p.m. ET / 3:00 p.m. PT \nSpeaker: Rashad Young\, High School Counselor\, Christian Brothers College High School\, St. Louis\, MO \nToday’s teens are often mislabeled as lazy\, unmotivated or disinterested. In reality\, many are overwhelmed — emotionally exhausted by social pressures\, academic expectations and the nonstop demands of a digital world. Gen Z is not disengaged; they are drowning in overstimulation\, anxiety and isolation. As Lasallian educators\, we are called to see beyond behavior and into the heart of what students carry. This session will challenge common narratives around youth apathy and offer a more compassionate\, trauma-informed understanding of Gen Z’s struggles. Together\, we will explore how depression and overstimulation show up in students’ lives\, and how our presence\, patience and empathy can become sacred bridges to healing. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:“Holy Audacity: Leadership and Enduring Lasallian Charism” – Regional Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Brother George Van Grieken\, FSC\, Ph.D.\nMonday\, May 4\, 2026 • 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT \nHow does a spiritual charism endure through revolution\, global expansion and profound cultural change? In this webinar\, Brother George Van Grieken\, FSC\, will explore three pivotal moments in the history of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools through the leadership of Brother Agathon\, Brother Philippe\, and Brother John Johnston. Each faced radically different historical crises — from the French Revolution to worldwide institutional growth and the post–Vatican II renewal of religious life — yet each responded in ways that preserved and re-expressed the Lasallian charism. Drawing from the book “Holy Audacity: A Short History of the Lasallian Charism & Mission\,” the webinar will highlight how faith\, zeal and association were continually adapted to new realities and invite participants to reflect on what this legacy of “holy audacity” means for Lasallian schools\, communities and ministries today. \nRegister for the Zoom webinar
