The final day of the LASSCA included a presentation by Chris M. Fay, principal of Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, Tennessee and Steven D. Koniarczyk, director of technology at Saint Joseph’s Collegiate Institute in Buffalo, New York on the ‘next steps’ in the development of the Lasallian Educational Access Platform (LEAP).
The model that is emerging from their work and their dialogue with Lasallians is one of cooperation. It limits the amount of administrative “overhead” required, while maximizing opportunities for students in Lasallian schools to take courses offered by other participating Lasallian schools. The technology required is also usable for both District and Regional staff, in both educational and formational environments. The next step of LEAP is the issuance of a survey to LASSCA members that will be used to guide conversations that will begin in the summer of 2016. The hope is to have some initial “formal” course openings (for LEAP member schools) available for the fall 2017 semester.
After a busy few days in San Antonio, participants went back to their ministries having experienced thoughtful dialogue, a new perspective and excitement.
