Brother Florent Gaudreault, FSC, will serve a third term as Visitor of the District of Francophone Canada. Brother Superior General Robert Schieler, FSC, announced the appointment, which runs May 15, 2022 – May 14, 2025. Brother Florent was first appointed Visitor in 2016 after serving as liaison to the General Councilor for the Lasallian Region of North America (RELAN) since 2012, when Francophone Canada and United States-Toronto Region became RELAN.
“What I have been able to do, as well as what I pledge to continue, is in line with what those who preceded me in this position have sown. Moreover, very little would have been possible without the remarkable and indispensable collaboration of our Partners, both in the positions of direction of the works and in those related to the structure of animation and administration of the district and in the direct animation with the young people,” Brother Florent wrote in a message to Brothers, friends and Lasallian Partners in his District. “The priorities of my commitments for the next three years will still be the support of community directors and the development and sustainability of our works. Our situation as an aging District, however, will require even more precise measures in the short term to ensure the future of our four main works and that of the well-being of our retired and sick colleagues.”
Brother Florent took the habit in 1965. He made his first vows in 1966 and perpetual vows in 1978. He has served as a teacher, pastoral animator, community director, dean of students, principal at École secondaire Mont-Bénilde and director of the Laval infirmary. He has also served on several boards of directors and been a member of the Lasallian Education Council.
