Celebrating Founder’s Day (May 15)
Greetings on Founder’s Day, the day the Institute celebrates the life of Saint La Salle. The Lasallian mission is alive and well around the globe because so many women and men, Brothers, religious Sisters and Priests are themselves wonderful role models of compassionate, caring educators who excel in their ministries and are innovative in providing a human and Christian education. Reports Highlight Week Two at General Chapter (May 1)
May 1 is a holiday in Italy and throughout Europe. However, Chapter delegates held a plenary session throughout the morning. There were three reports: one on the 3rd International Symposium of Young Lasallians, a report from the Bursar General, and a report on Christian Brothers Investment Services (CBIS). Read more >
Retreat Leads into Week of Informative Reports (April 24 – 29)
Our retreat, which concluded on Saturday evening, marked the end of the opening week of the General Chapter. In the midst of our days of retreat, Father Robert Prevost quoted from the Acts of the Apostles 2:42-47 – “All who believed were together and had all things in common.” It is in our unity – “together and by Association” – that we are strongest. Creatively Serving the Poor (April 23 – 24)
The second day of the General Chapter concluded with a keynote address by Superior General Brother Álvaro Rodríguez Echeverría, FSC. He shared his experience and the experience of the Institute through his eyes from the past 21 years, seven of which were as the Vicar General and 14 as the Superior General. Read more >
It is Also Our Work (April 22)
The theme of the 45th General Chapter – “This work is the Lord’s and it is also our work” – comes from a 1714 letter of the principal Brothers in Paris to Saint La Salle while he was in the south of France at a place called Parmenie. Read more >
