Invitation to Highlight Lasallians in De La Salle Today

The autumn issue of De La Salle Today will celebrate the Lasallian Year of Saint Joseph. For this issue, we would like to highlight people who are “the silent ones”—those who quietly serve, offer hope daily, and are true witnesses of faith, service and community.

We invite you to fill out this form to nominate a dedicated Lasallian to be featured in De La Salle Today. We request up to 200 words to share why this person has had such an impact on those he/she serves while doing so from the “background,” similar to Saint Joseph. We also request a high-resolution photo of the nominee, which could be a headshot or photo of them with young people they serve or in community. The deadline to submit a nominee is June 11. Selections will be made and the nominator and nominee will be contacted by June 30. If numerous nominations are received, we plan to highlight those unable to be printed in De La Salle Today, along with those printed, on www.Lasallian.info in order to celebrate all nominees.

Pope Francis declared 2021 as a special Year of Saint Joseph in honor of the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as patron of the Universal Church. Saint Joseph is also patron of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. Saint John Baptist de La Salle urged the Brothers to have a special devotion to Saint Joseph and hold him as their model of a just, humble man who had confidence and faith in God. To honor the 150th anniversary and Saint Joseph’s influence on the Lasallian mission, 2021 is the Lasallian Year of Saint Joseph

As Pope Francis wrote in Patris Corde, “Each of us can discover in Joseph—the man who goes unnoticed, a daily, discreet and hidden presence—an intercessor, a support and a guide in times of trouble. Saint Joseph reminds us that those who appear hidden or in the shadows can play an incomparable role in the history of salvation. A word of recognition and of gratitude is due to them all.”
