Joint Meeting Builds Association and Advances the Mission

RCCB/LECThe members of the Regional Conference of Christian Brothers (RCCB) and the Lasallian Education Council (LEC) held their first-ever joint meeting on February 23, 2014. This meeting offered very important time for the members of each group to meet one another in person and develop stronger relationships in order to sustain the charism and advance the mission.

“For many of us, this meeting was a critical next step in the ongoing efforts of shared mission and another example of the precedent the Brothers have set in working with their lay and religious community Partners,” said Gery Short, LEC chairman. “The formation of the LEC and its delegated responsibilities from the Visitors demonstrates the confidence and trust the Brothers of this Region and the Institute have imparted to their Partners in mission.”

LEC

LEC

LEC was formed in May 2011 as a response to the 1st International Mission Assembly to create a structure where Partners would have voice and vote in areas concerning the Lasallian mission and formation for that mission. LEC ensures that Regional formation programs are of high quality and that a strong vision is in place for future work of the Regional office, in order to benefit Lasallian ministries.

Both groups met in conjunction with the Lasallian Association of Secondary School Chief Administrators (LASSCA) Conference which took place February 23 – 26, 2014, in Atlanta, GA. In the days surrounding the joint meeting, both groups held their respective meetings while participating in portions of the LASSCA Conference.
