La Salle Homestead Joins DENA

La Salle Educational Center in Homestead, Florida, is now a ministry of the District of Eastern North America (DENA). While the center, which was founded by alumni of Lasallian schools in Cuba, officially joined DENA on January 1, 2020, it ceremonially transferred its covenant relationship from the Antillas-México Sur District to DENA during a celebration on February 4, 2020.

La Salle Educational Center serves low-income families who work in the agricultural fields of southern Miami-Dade County. It provides care for children after school, during school holidays and during the summer, offering homework assistance and extra-curricular activities. It also provides young people with vocational training and religious instruction.

Additionally, the center serves parents by offering classes in English, computers, parenting, health and nutrition. The center serves approximately 400 people. Read more from DENA >
