Lasallian Learning Spotlight: Creating Communities Where Students Thrive

Slide from Springtide Research Institute

August 21, 2026

The first in a new series, Lasallian Learning Spotlight, Christian Brothers Conference is offering a synthesized summary of the Aug. 18 webinar from Springtide Research Institute’s Jaclyn Doherty, Ph.D., and Nabil Tueme, Ph.D., titled “Vocation and Belonging: Insights for Educators.” This webinar draws on national research data and examines how educators shape young people’s sense of vocation, belonging and hope for the future.

How do we help students discover their gifts, find purpose and know they belong?

At the heart of Lasallian education is the belief that every student deserves to be known, valued and accompanied. This webinar offers data and practical insights into how our relationships, language and daily interactions can help students recognize their strengths, imagine new possibilities and build meaningful lives.

Key Takeaways

  • Speaking Their Language: Learn how language shapes students’ perceptions of purpose, agency and possibility, and how to communicate in ways that resonate with today’s young people.
  • The Educator’s Influence: Explore the formational, aspirational and interpretive roles educators play in helping students discover their gifts and discern their path.
  • Belonging Matters: Examine research showing how students who feel noticed, named and known are more likely to engage in conversations about purpose and future aspirations.
  • Practical Strategies for Accompaniment: Gain actionable approaches for fostering reflection, meaningful dialogue and a stronger sense of community in your classroom and school.

As Lasallian educators, we are called to accompany young people as they grow into the people God created them to be. This webinar offers research-based insights and practical tools to support that mission.
