Postulants Make Promises

Three young men took another step in the journey as they answer the call to the Brothers’ vocation. Postulants Johnathon Emanuelson and Mark Engelmeyer from the Midwest District made their First Promises during a special liturgy at Jeremy House in Philadelphia, PA, on October 20. David Deradoorian from the District of Eastern North America (DENA) renewed his promises as well.

General Councilor Brother Robert Schieler, Midwest District Visitor Brother Larry Schatz, DENA Visitor Brother Dennis Malloy, Brother Stephen Markham (Midwest), Brother Ed Shields (DENA), and members of the Jeremy House community were in attendance.

Johnathon and Mark are both graduates of Lasallian schools. Johnathon is a graduate of Montini High School in Lombard, IL, and Lewis University in Romeoville, IL; Mark graduated from DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis, MN. Both are currently taking classes at La Salle University in Philadelphia, and Mark is also spending three days a week volunteering at La Salle Academy, a San Miguel school in Philadelphia. David is teaching Spanish and Religion at La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, PA, while studying for his master’s degree at La Salle University.

The three other Postulants in the Region are currently serving in Lasallian schools: Anthony Elfering (Midwest), Bishop Kelley High School in Tulsa, OK; Patrick Martin (San Francisco District), Cathedral High School in Los Angeles, CA; Roberto Martinez (San Francisco District), Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory and De Marillac Academy in in San Francisco, CA.
