Principal Named at SJCI

HazelJeffery D. Hazel will become principal of St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute in Buffalo, NY in July. He will assume the position after participating in two weeks at the Buttimer Institute of Lasallian Studies, a Region-sponsored intensive Lasallian formation and education program that studies the life and work of St. John Baptist de La Salle and the origins of the worldwide Lasallian educational mission.

Hazel earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics/Economics from the University at Buffalo, and completed master’s degrees in both Mathematics Education and Educational Leadership. He most recently served as principal at Niagara-Wheatfield High School.

This appointment takes the school back to a president/principal model which allows the president to focus on business side of the school and the principal to focus on academics. Robert T. Scott, AFSC, who has served as president/principal, will remain as school president.
