The Brother Luke Salm, FSC Religious Education Workshop will take place October 2 – 4, 2011 in Marriottsville, MD. “Sharing Faith: The Lasallian Vision of Christian Education and Evangelization” is the focus of the second annual workshop. The goal is to enhance and support the Christian education and evangelization of the young by providing professional development for and accompaniment to Religious Studies instructors, Campus Ministers and other Lasallian educators.
The workshop includes sessions on Lasallian catechetics in the time of the Founder and the first generation, the developments leading up to the Catechist Manual in the early 1900’s, the post-WWII developments that led to the foundation of a number of Institute catechetical reviews, and current Lasallian thought on catechetical praxis. Breakout periods focus on practical and innovative ways to implement the Bishops’ Curriculum Framework, along with developing and implementing student retreats.
The workshop is named in memory and honor of Brother Luke Salm, a theologian who was the first non-ordained person in the Catholic Church to receive a Doctorate in Sacred Theology. The District of Eastern North America sponsors this workshop.
