Remains of Bro. Adolphe Chatillon Transferred from Laval to Montréal

Transfer of remains

The remains of the Venerable Brother Adolphe Chatillon were transferred Wednesday, April 22 from the La Salle Residence in Laval (Québec) to the parish church of Saint John Baptist de La Salle in Montréal as the cause for his beatification continues.

Bro. Adolphe died April 28, 1929 and his body was buried in Mont La Salle cemetery in Laval-des-Rapides. In 1962, when the canonical process for his beatification began and Brother Adolphe became a Servant of God, his body was exhumed and transferred to the Brother’s residence in Laval. Pope Benedict XVI then proclaimed Bro. Adolphe Venerable in 2011. Bro. Adolphe’s remains have now been transferred to the church with the purpose of allowing people to intensify their faith and trust in the intervention of the Venerable Brother, in hopes for a miracle that will lead to his beatification.

Archbishop Christian Lépine of Montréal presided over the ceremony. Among those in attendance were Brother Rodolfo Meoli, Postulator General for the Institute of the Brothers of Christian Schools; Brother Louis-Paul Lavallée, Francophone Canada District Visitor; Brother Yvon Larente, Vice-Postulator for the cause; and Brother Gilles Beaudet who has taken care of many of the details for the transfer.
