Saint Michael’s High School (SMHS) in Santa Fe, New Mexico, has announced Dr. Arlana Kingsbury will serve as the school’s interim principal, and Stephanie Gurule-Leyba as assistant principal, both effective July 1, 2022.
Dr. Kingsbury has served as assistant principal for faculty development at SMHS since July 2021. She holds a doctorate in education policy and leadership from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and a master’s in school counseling from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
Gurule-Leyba has served in a variety of roles within Santa Fe public schools, earning the 2017 New Mexico Teacher of the Year award and the 2021 Golden Apple Excellence in Teaching award. She has a bachelor’s in biology and master’s in education – vocational rehabilitation counseling, both from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, Nevada.
