Summer Program Registration to Open in February

The Office for Lasallian Education at Christian Brothers Conference is planning to hold in-person formation programs during the summer of 2022, and registration will open in February.

The Buttimer Institute of Lasallian Studies will be held Sunday, June 26 – Saturday, July 9 at Manhattan College in New York. Buttimer is an intensive Lasallian education and formation program that studies the life, work and spirituality of Saint John Baptist de La Salle and the origins of the Lasallian educational mission. The Buttimer I class is capped to 40 participants through a first-come/first-served registration process (completing the registration form and submitting payment via credit card). Those interested in beginning Buttimer are encouraged to register as soon as possible to guarantee a spot. Learn more about Buttimer >

Cohort IV of the Brother John Johnston Institute of Contemporary Lasallian Practice will begin in the summer. Johnston focuses on deepening participants’ understanding of De La Salle’s story and vision, Lasallian pedagogy, the Lasallian promotion of justice and Lasallian spirituality while utilizing contemporary texts to inform and influence current and future Lasallian practice. The two-year program includes online sessions, in-person gatherings by District and an in-person gathering as a Regional group. Dates are now available. Learn more about Johnston >

The Lasallian Social Justice Institute (LSJI) will take place Sunday, June 26 – Saturday, July 2 at the De La Salle Blackfeet School in Browning, Montana. LSJI is based on the Gospel and our Lasallian vocation to the promotion of social justice and service to the poor. This year’s program will create awareness of the present reality of the Blackfeet American Indian Tribe, how this reality has been impacted by historical events and how this first step of creating awareness leads us to addressing Indigenous concerns in Browning. LSJI is capped to 20 participants through a first-come/first-served registration process (completing the registration form and submitting payment via credit card). Participants who attended the 2021 virtual program on this topic will receive priority registration. Those interested in attending LSJI are encouraged to register as soon as possible to guarantee a spot. Save the date for this year’s program. Learn more about LSJI >

The process to nominate or select participants is determined by ministries and/or Districts. Chief administrators are invited to use this guide to help determine which formation program is the right fit for colleagues.
