Two universities in the Lasallian Region of North America (RELAN) are among seven global partners behind the relaunch of the Instituto Convitto Jesus Magister (ICJM) Consortium.
La Salle University and Lewis University are supporting the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools’ reestablishment of ICJM. The consortium will collaborate with Institute commissions, Regional/District/Sector offices and Lasallian educational institutions to offer ongoing formation and education programs for Brothers and Lasallian Partners around the world. Programs will be offered in Lasallian leadership development, Lasallian pedagogy and religious education/catechesis.
La Salle president Dan Allen and Lewis president David Livingston were among were more than 100 representatives of Lasallian institutions present at the online signing event to relaunch the consortium on November 21, 2023, the anniversary of the heroic vow made by Saint John Baptist de La Salle, Nicholas Vuyart and Gabriel Drolin in 1691 to establish the “Society,” even if only the three of them remained and they had to beg for alms and live on bread alone.
Calling the consortium an integral component of the Leavening Project, Brother Superior General Armin Luistro, FSC, said, “We hope that the small initiative we begin today will contribute to the transformation of institutions, communities and individuals so that they can sustain their passionate engagement in building God’s reign here and now.”
