Lasallian Women of Hope (LWH) has partnered again with FairTrade Caravans to launch the fourth annual spring and Mother’s Day fundraiser that will help establish new programs in Madagascar and South Africa. The fundraiser takes place now through May 6, with LWH receiving 25% of product sale proceeds.
Proceeds from the 2023 holiday fundraiser with FairTrade Caravans improved girls’ bathroom facilities in Keesara, India, and supported a mentoring program for young women in Johannesburg, South Africa. The funds also expanded menstrual education programs and Pad Projects in both locations.
FairTrade Caravans’ products are made in safe working conditions with sustainable practices. They do not use child labor, offer fair pay for all employees, and support artisans and farmers around the world. While the spring fundraiser offers an opportunity to bring attention to and fundraise for LWH, it also is one of three initiatives that FairTrade Caravans supports as fundraiser throughout the year by selecting LWH at checkout.
A project of the Solidarity and Development Secretariat for the Insitute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, LWH fosters educational access, empowers girls and women, and creates sustainable change. LWH began as a small project that provided grassroots female empowerment while developing sustainable solutions to mitigate obstacles impeding educational access. Today, the LWH mission has evolved to ensure girls and women enjoy full access to education around the world. Through its grants, LWH delivers creative, effective and durable solutions to educational inequities for girls and women.
