Who We Are

We are Lasallians: De La Salle Christian Brothers, educators, staff members, students, parents, alumni, supporters and others following the vision of Saint John Baptist de La Salle. We are committed to touching the hearts of children and young adults entrusted to our care.

The Lasallian mission embodies the vision and innovative spirit of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, patron saint of all teachers and founder of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (De La Salle Christian Brothers.) Saint La Salle founded the mission to provide a human and Christian education to the young, especially the poor.

De La Salle founded the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (De La Salle Christian Brothers) in 17th century France. Today, the Brothers and Lasallian Partners work together and by association to create inclusive communities where they can provide transformative experiences that are innovative and holistic.

The Lasallian Region of North America (RELAN) includes the United States and Canada, where the Lasallian mission serves more than 76,900 people through a network of seven colleges/universities, 51 secondary schools (four are Cristo Rey), and 21 middle and elementary schools (11 are San Miguel). Other ministries, which total 27, include youth and family services programs, educational centers, retreat centers, summer camps, and support ministries.

The Lasallian mission is present in 79 countries, with approximately 3,100 Brothers and 104,600 Partners serving one million young people in about 1,100 ministries.
