A new committee has been established by the Lasallian Education Council (LEC) to support the Regional formation and education programs offered by the Office for Lasallian Education at Christian Brothers Conference. Led by Sarah Laitinen, director of Lasallian programs, the committee provides guidance and support for the design and implementation of the Buttimer Institute of Lasallian Studies, Brother John Johnston Institute of Contemporary Lasallian Practice, Lasallian Social Justice Institute and the Huether Lasallian Conference.
The new Regional Formation Programs Advisory Committee (RFPAC), which replaces the Regional Education Advisory Committee (REAC) and which features a smaller membership and a renewed focus, serves not only to provide guidance and counsel on Regional formation and education programs but also offers an opportunity for sharing and collaboration among committee members. Brother Visitors were invited to appoint members who are knowledgeable of the Regional formation and education programs, experienced in leading a local, District or Regional workshop, seminar and/or program, and who are graduates of a Regional formation program. The following individuals were appointed as District representatives: Alan Weyland (District of Eastern North America), Dr. Greg Kopra (District of San Francisco New Orleans) and Brother Chuck Gregor, FSC (Midwest District).
The representatives gathered for their first in-person meeting from September 30 – October 1 in Narragansett, Rhode Island. The group will meet again in person in April 2020, with other meetings to take place by video conference.
The Office for Lasallian Education thanks committee members for their service on REAC and thanks RFPAC members for their service on this new committee.
