Brother Jack Curran Reappointed to Bethlehem University

In January 2024, Brother Jack Curran, FSC, was reappointed vice president for advancement at Bethlehem University in the Holy Land. He held a similar role there from 2003 to 2013.

Brother Jack has devoted over 30 years to Lasallian higher education. Prior to the reappointment, Brother Jack was vice president for mission at Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York, since 2013. He has served on a number of boards, including the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU), Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, International Association of La Salle Universities (IALU), La Salle University, La Salle Institute, and District of Eastern North America’s District Council.

A Christian Brother for 45 years, Brother Jack first began his Lasallian journey at La Salle Institute in Troy, New York. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Manhattan College and his master’s degree and doctoral degree from the State University of New York at Albany.

Founded as a collaboration between the De La Salle Christian Brothers and the Vatican in 1973, Bethlehem University is the only Catholic university in the Holy Land. Nearly three dozen Brothers from RELAN have served at Bethlehem University. In 2023, the university celebrated its 50th anniversary, which was highlighted in an article by the Bethlehem University Foundation in the 2023 autumn issue of De La Salle Today.
