The Board of Trustees of Calvert Hall College High School has announced the appointment of Brother Thomas Zoppo, FSC, as the fourth president of Calvert Hall effective July 1, 2009.
Brother Thomas, 51, is principal of Christian Brothers Academy (CBA), Syracuse, NY. He has held the position since 2003. Previous assignments include director of curriculum and instruction at De La Salle High School, Concord, CA; academic advisor and lecturer in mathematics at Manhattan College, NY; vice-principal for student affairs at La Salle Institute, Troy, NY; vice-principal for academic affairs at CBA; teacher of mathematics and religion at St. Raymond High School, Bronx, NY, and at La Salle Academy, New York, NY.
Brother Thomas holds a B.S. in business administration from Villanova University and an M.S. in school administration from Manhattan College. He has pursued graduate studies in counseling, spirituality, and school leadership at Manhattan, Notre Dame and Boston College, respectively.
Calvert Hall will officially welcome Brother Thomas at the May 7, 2009 meeting of the Board and at a faculty reception the next day. He succeeds Brother Benedict Oliver, FSC, who has served as president of Calvert Hall since June 2005. Brother Benedict will be returning to Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, PA, to direct the school’s writing center and help with alumni and development.
