reunion

Close to 100 graduates of the Buttimer Institute of Lasallian Studies, the Lasallian Leadership Institute (LLI), and the Lasallian Social Justice Institute (LSJI) gathered in Chicago, IL, September 30-October 2, 2001. This first Regional Lasallian Formation Reunion focused on “Our Lasallian Journey-Sustaining the Mission, Renewing the Passion.”

The event was organized by Brother Raymond Blixt (DENA) so that graduates could share their stories and help define the future needs of formation. Lasallian Volunteers (LV) and LV advisory board members were also present. “From the moment participants started to arrive and greet one another as Lasallian colleagues and friends, I sensed a positive energy and enthusiasm which allowed me to be very confident that this formation reunion was most needed and would be most successful,” said Bro. Ray.

RummeryBrother Gerard Rummery (PARC) provided a historical overview and perspective on Lasallian Association. “He revitalized my pride to be associated with the Brothers and their works all over the world,” said Diahann Larson, Director of Lasallian Ministry at St. Michael’s High School in Santa Fe, NM. “One of the things that I appreciated most was how inviting he is to share the Lasallian Mission in so many ways with so many people.”

The gathering also featured various conversation topics that explored formation, associative groups, the role of women and more. Larson said the event provided guidance, lessons and inspiration. It also empowered participants to continue to work together for the Mission.

LLI alum, Didier Aur, president of Helias High School in Jefferson City, MO, hopes future reunions are organized. “I need my Lasallian booster shot every once in a while,” he said. “I love my LLI cohorts and want to see them more often. They inspire me. They help me in my faith life. They make me a better administrator, Lasallian and Christian.”
