The Israeli High Court issued a decision on December 9, 2009 not to allow Berlanty Azzam to return to Bethlehem University to complete her studies. The High Court indicated that Berlanty did not pose any security threat but that she was in breach of the pass given to her in 2005 allowing her to cross between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank for religious purposes only, not study.
