San Miguel School Chicago has announced the appointment of Eric Serrano as the school’s new executive director.
Serrano has served at San Miguel School for 17 years. He was first hired as a counselor to help students and families cope with trauma stemming from the violence in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. Serrano also led the graduate support, family support and the athletic programs, along with playing a key role in opening the new community center. Serrano was born and raised in the Back of the Yards, giving him a unique understanding of the challenges the community faces.
Colleen Ahearn, his predecessor, has taken a position with Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois.
