The San Miguel School of Providence, Rhode Island, has named John Horton new principal for the 2026-2027 school year. Current principal Carol Soltys, who has served San Miguel for 15 years, will retire.
For over 20 years, Horton has held a number of roles, including science teacher, advisor and dean at the Blackstone Academy Charter School in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Prior to Blackstone, he spent five years as a high school science teacher in Philadelphia public schools.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in education.
