A new report provides a unique look at the impact COVID-19 has had on Lasallian education worldwide, along with highlighting the resiliency and innovative responses of administrators, teachers, parents and students.
The Lasallian Research and Resources Service at the Generalate in Rome, at the request of the preparatory commission for the 3rd International Assembly on the Lasallian Educational Mission, sent a COVID-19 impact survey to all Lasallian institutions in 79 countries in early 2021. The purpose was to help delegates to AIMEL understand the pressing challenges of educational institutions around the world. Brother George Van Grieken, FSC, from the District of San Francisco New Orleans, who serves as Secretary for the Lasallian Research and Resource Service and director of the Lasallian Resource Center, created and directed the study.
The results showed how more than 900 Lasallian schools responded in the major areas of pedagogical, institutional, financial and general school management. Subsequently, four groups of scholars at Lasallian universities in the Philippines, Brazil and Mexico analyzed the results and wrote short reports with insights about practical, organizational, pedagogical and inter-personal realities.
