Ocean Tides Research Featured in New Book

Turning the Tide of Male Juvenile Delinquency: The Ocean Tides Approach

Ocean Tides School in Narragansett, Rhode Island, is featured in a new book set to be published July 28, 2015. Turning the Tide of Male Juvenile Delinquency: The Ocean Tides Approach details a study of the impact Ocean Tides had on the young men who were part of the residential program and school from 1975 to 2006.

The book is the result of a partnership between Ocean Tides and the University of Rhode Island to conduct the study, which the publisher calls “a groundbreaking, how-to roadmap for developing and implementing an effective rehabilitative program for delinquent youth.”

Dr. Lawrence Grebstein, professor emeritus of psychology at the University of Rhode Island and a consultant to Ocean Tides for almost 40 years, and Dr. Judy A. Van Wyk, associate professor of sociology at the University of Rhode Island, conducted the study and wrote the book.

This effort was highlighted in the Spring 2015 issue of De La Salle Today in a story about research at youth and family services organizations.
