Prayer Writing Workshop for the Year of Lasallian Spirituality

In an effort to further support and promote the 2025 Year of Lasallian Spirituality, Christian Brothers Conference is pleased to offer a Prayer Writing Workshop for a select group of writers, across all experience levels and ministries. The goal for the gathering is twofold: 1) to create four seasonal prayer resources that will be distributed to educators around the Lasallian Region of North America (RELAN) and 2) to be a spiritually and professionally enriching time of growth.

Dates: June 22-26, 2025. Three full days: Arrive June 22 and depart June 26.

Location: Christian Brothers Center, Narragansett, Rhode Island

Purpose

Recognizing the ongoing need for accessible prayer resources for educators, Christian Brothers Conference will gather a group of scholars, researchers, practitioners, educators and ministers to create new prayer resources for educators in RELAN. The resources will follow the course of a traditional academic year: beginning of the year, Advent, Lent and closing of the year. Intended for everyday use, the prayer resources should serve as an approachable collection of prayers that can be used with faculty and staff in the classroom, on retreats, during meetings, and more. Through networking, prayer and time for community, the workshop should also foster professional and spiritual growth in our shared Lasallian mission by engaging in prayer writing and creative processes.

Context

Saint John Baptist de La Salle, the patron saint of educators, gifted the world of education with a spiritual tradition highlighting the dignity of the educator’s vocation. Inspiring thousands of teachers and educators across hundreds of years, the words and pedagogy of De La Salle are anchored in a deep theology and spirituality. Prayer, an integral part of Lasallian spirituality, invites educators to enter into sacred individual and communal space as an avenue for reflection, rejuvenation and sustenance. However, in the busyness of life and ministry, prayer often becomes one of the first things to move to the back burner.

Application Process

Applications are now closed. Acceptances will be sent the week of March 10.

Lasallians from across RELAN are invited to apply to participate in this opportunity. We are seeking a diverse group of applicants, i.e., Brothers, Partners, young educators and professionals from all ministries. The workshop is open to a limited number of participants.

Cost

If selected to participate in the workshop, Christian Brothers Conference will cover the program cost inclusive of accommodations, food and program materials. Transportation (airfare, train, car, etc.) to/from Narragansett, Rhode Island, is the sole responsibility of the participant and/or ministry, community or District. If travel costs present a barrier for attending, please indicate this in your application.
