The Bishop John S. Cummins Institute for Catholic Thought, Culture and Action at Saint Mary’s College of California will host a panel discussion, “The Catholic Church and the Role of Women in Church Leadership,” on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. Pacific. The event is part of a spring celebration of 50 Years of Women at Saint Mary’s. The discussion is part of the series “The Voice of the Shepherd: Conversations about the Church in Dialogue with American Society.” The panel includes Sister Barbara Reid, O.P., president of the Catholic Theological Union (CTU) in Chicago; Professor C. Vanessa White, associate professor of spirituality and ministry at the CTU; and Reverend Michael J. Barber, S.J., Bishop of the Diocese of Oakland, California. Panelists will be joined by three Saint Mary’s students who will offer responses to the presentations. SMC President James Donahue will moderate the event. Registration is required for this free opportunity.
