Superior General Releases Founder’s Day Message

As Lasallians around the world mark the Solemnity of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, also celebrated as Founder’s Day, in a different way this year on May 15, Brother Superior Robert Schieler, FSC, has released a new message.

In this new message, Brother Robert references the current situation with COVID-19, writing that it “has caught us off guard and thrust us into an unanticipated historical moment.” He encourages us to seize the moment and work together and by association to help others. “Let us plan for the future with energy and wonder, knowing that adventure and tribulation lie ahead. Let us continue to joyfully, loudly and fearlessly witness to Jesus Christ. And let us celebrate the feast of Saint John Baptist de La Salle by recommitting ourselves to faithfully and zealously care for each other and all of God’s creation.Read the full message >

Brother Robert continues to recover well following a liver transplant. He is in the second month of a three-month recovery program, which includes weekly meetings with different doctors. They are pleased with his progress and how the liver is functioning. As part of his therapy, he is able to walk twice daily. He is also meeting weekly with Brother Jorge, Vicar General, and the General Council via video conferences. He sends his gratitude for the prayers and well wishes.
