As Lent continues, Lasallians in United States and the Lwanga District of Africa continue their effort to connect, as fundraisers for Lasallians in Lwanga move ahead.

La Salle Academy, Providence
In addition to its Ash Wednesday kickoff fundraiser, La Salle Academy in Providence, RI, has other fundraisers underway to benefit Rongai Agricultural and Technical Secondary School. Each Wednesday during Lent, faculty and staff members host a bread and soup lunch. For five dollars, they receive soup, bread, and butter with proceeds going to Rongai. Also each Wednesday, students hold collections while offering facts about Rongai and Kenya. La Salle Academy’s Lenten fundraisers will end with a dress-down day.

Mount La Salle College, Naka, Nigeria
La Salle College High School is also using a dress-down day as a fundraiser for Mwangaza College. Additionally, La Salle posted information about Mwangaza on its website and created an informational video.
To further the feeling of connectedness, Lasallians were encouraged to say the same twinning prayer on Ash Wednesday.

St. Joseph School, Keren, Ethiopia
Nativity School in Shinara Village, Eritrea, St. Joseph School in Keren, Eritrea, and Mount La Salle College in Naka, Nigeria, recently shared pictures of their students praying in solidarity with Lasallians in the U.S. Mount La Salle College is using the prayer in general assemblies students attend each Monday and Friday. It also printed the prayer and gave it to all students, faculty, and staff.
