The Latino Student Success Program at Christian Brothers University (CBU) in Memphis, Tennessee, received recognition from President Obama as part of the White House initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics’ 25th anniversary call to action. Dr. John Smarrelli, president of CBU, and Franky Paz, a current CBU student, represented the university at an event in Washington, D.C., on October 15, 2015, where President Obama formally recognized CBU along with approximately 150 other public and private sector organizations.

The Latino Success Program a multi-faceted approach to assisting Hispanic students during their time at CBU. This program ensures that education is affordable and accessible to all students, mirroring the commitment of Saint John Baptist de La Salle. The program has three components: financial assistance, outreach among students and partnerships within the Memphis community.
