Worldwide COVID-19 Fundraiser to Help Lasallians in Developing Nations

A global effort is underway to help Lasallians in the most need during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The Solidarity and Development Secretariat of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools has launched a worldwide appeal for funds to support individuals in undeveloped areas of the world. Funds collected will  support such initiatives as securing face masks for students and families, providing disinfectants, accommodating the homeless and feeding the impoverished.

Areas preliminarily targeted for assistance include: Central and South America, Africa, the Middle East, India, Southeastern Asia, and the Pacific Islands.  This involves approximately 597 educational institutions, 639,000 students, 48,000 staff and 1,061 Brothers. The goal of the campaign is to build solidarity by offering every student, faculty member, staff, parent and friend the opportunity to support Lasallian colleagues in third world nations through their donations.

One hundred percent of all donations will help these fragile sectors of the world. To learn more about the campaign and make a tax-deductible contribution, visit La Salle International’s website.

Additionally, the Solidarity and Development Secretariat has announced two related initiatives in response to coronavirus. It has introduced #LaSalleCOVID19 to promote the fundraising campaign and to share Lasallians’ response efforts. Also, the Secretariat is inviting Lasallians to share pictures and artwork supporting the idea that “everything will be okay.” Read a letter from Brother Nestor Anaya, FSC, Secretary of Association and Mission, and see examples of the pictures here.
