First Lasallian Research Seminar Will Consider Association This Fall

The Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools’ Office of Lasallian Heritage and Research will host an annual Lasallian Research Seminar October 28-November 1, 2024, at the Generalate in Rome. This new initiative is a concrete response to the 46th General Chapter’s “dream” to be “one Lasallian family, with diverse vocations; leaven for a more fraternal world, sent forth to encounter God in those who are poor, and to promote justice” (Circular 478).

Over the next five years, each research seminar will concentrate on a topic that relates to one of the “commitments” from the 46th General Chapter. The 2024 Lasallian Research Seminar discusses the development of Lasallian Association for mission both as a lived experienced and as institutional structures over the last 50 years.

Future seminars will consider a renewal of Lasallian catechesis, an integral ecological awareness of a Lasallian education for justice, education for justice and public advocacy for human and children’s rights, and a Lasallian reading of the word of God.

The Office of Lasallian Heritage and Research invites Lasallians, Brothers and Partners from all Districts who have a “lived experience of shared mission and Association for mission that they can reflect on and share” and who are “willing to undertake the research seminar experience” to attend the first seminar.
