Christian Brothers University (CBU) in Memphis, Tennessee, has named Brother Chris Englert, FSC, interim president, effective June 1, 2024.
A CBU graduate, Brother Chris came to the then-college after taking his vows as a Christian Brother in 1974 and received his bachelor’s degree in humanities in 1977. He went on to earn two master’s degrees, one from La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in religious studies and another from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in educational administration.
After teaching at his alma mater, La Salle High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, Brother Chris returned to Memphis to serve Christian Brothers High School for three decades, first as vice principal for a year and later as CEO. Brother Chris previously was an Auxiliary Visitor in the Midwest District and served on the Board of Trustees for CBU from 2011 to 2023.
