The 46th General Chapter came to a close on May 22, 2022, at the Generalate in Rome. The Chapter included 70 capitulants from around the world, along with consultants and experts. It assessed the needs of the Institute and global Lasallian family, then sought creative responses to ensure those needs are met looking toward the future. The three primary Chapter themes were: association for mission; leadership, sustainability and governance; and the life of the Brothers.

Audience with Pope Francis
As part of the Chapter, an audience was held with Pope Francis on May 21. Brother Armin Luistro, FSC, newly elected Superior General, read a message to the pope, and Pope Francis encouraged the group to continue evangelizing and educating. He said, “We are aware that the world is experiencing an educational emergency. SFNO Brother Among General Councilors Elected
Brother Chris Patiño, FSC, from the District of San Francisco New Orleans (SFNO), was among five Brothers who were elected as General Councilors on May 20. Read more. Brother Chris shared a message to RELAN, in which he talked about serving the Region and connecting to the wider Lasallian family. The General Councilors will serve with the newly elected Superior General and Vicar General. Brother Armin Luistro, FSC, was elected Superior General on May 18, and Brother Carlos Gabriel Gómez Restrepo, FSC, was elected Vicar General on May 19.
Reflections from Brother Timothy Coldwell
Throughout the General Chapter, Brother Timothy Coldwell, FSC, offered reflections each day. On the final day of the Chapter, he wrote that the “Chapter has offered hope … and a fresh take on fraternity, one that seeks to deepen our sense of a ‘Lasallian We.’” Read more daily Chapter reflections >
